Malawi’s New Ambassador Presents Credentials to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait
Mar 05, 2019

Malawi’s new envoy to Kuwait His Excellency Ambassador Jaffalie Mussa on 5th March, 2019 presented his Letters of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait, thereby being accredited as Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Malawi to the State of Kuwait.

Speaking at the ceremony which took place at Bayan Palace, Ambassador Mussa expressed Malawi Government’s appreciation for the strong relations existing between Malawi and Kuwait.  He assured

His Highness the Amir of His Excellency the President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s continued commitment to strengthening relations between the two countries.

He informed His Highness the Amir that during his tour of duty, he would tirelessly work to further consolidate the bilateral relations  already existing between the two brotherly countries.

Ambassador Mussa praised the State of Kuwait for its continued support towards Malawi’s development initiatives in various sectors through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, and its contribution to the OFID and the Arab Bank For Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) which also support Malawi’s development initiatives.

In response, His Highness the Amir wished the President of Malawi His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the people of Malawi good health and prosperity.

He congratulated His Excellency Mussa for being appointed to represent the Government of the Republic of Malawi in Kuwait and assured him of his government’s support during his tour of duty.

He said Kuwait and Malawi, both being smaller countries, share a lot in common and that is why his country greatly values its relations with Malawi.

The Amir further elucidated that Malawi is one of the countries that have stood with Kuwait both in good and bad times and that is why the people of Kuwait will remain grateful to it.

His Highness the Amir pledged his country’s continued assistance to Malawi’s social and economic development.

Kuwait remains Malawi’s strategic partner in the Gulf region. Malawi has benefitted significantly from her relations with Kuwait especially through infrastructural development.

The State of Kuwait has co-financed construction of the Zomba–Jali–Phalombe-Chitakale, Thyolo–Makwasa-Bangula, the Mangochi-Naminga and the recently approved Machinga-Chingale-Lirangwe road projects through the Kuwait Fund.

Ambassador Jaffalie Mussa, who arrived in Kuwait on 22nd February, 2019, is also accredited to eight other countries including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Oman, and Yemen.

Ambassador Mussa, who replaces Ambassador Wilfred Ali, is not new in Kuwait. He was once Malawi’s Ambassador to Kuwait with residence in Cairo, Egypt and played an important role in the opening of the resident Mission Kuwait in 2011.
